Meet Girish!

Diamonds In The Sun

Sacred World artist Girish is back with his latest release “Diamonds in the Sun.”

What struck me almost immediately is that “Diamonds in the Sun” is reminiscent of Girish’s 1st release “Reveal” which has become a fan favorite, myself included. Found on this new release are his lush soul-filled vocals & divine instrumentation combined with guest vocals by some of the finest female voices in Sacred World music today. What’s new to Girish’s repertoire here is combining Sanskrit and English lyrics.

His efforts pay off—the album is a perfect balance of East meets West. Girish wrote, arranged and produced all of the songs in addition to his lead vocals and playing several instruments throughout. While this genre continues to be dominated by a bevy of beautiful female voices, Girish remains at the very top of a small list of strong male voices.

While the whole album is a must listen from start to finish and every track is a musical masterpiece, notable songs include the sweet ballad title track, the smooth grooves of Om Namah Shivaya which begins with the Maha Mrityunjaya and moves into the Om Namah Shivaya chant with an upbeat toe-tapping rhythm… and of course Jaya Hanuman in which Girish demonstrates his unique ability to lay down a fierce Sanskrit rap.

The additional talent on Girish’s album is quite large and deserves a little attention…musical guests of note include Benjy Wertheimer on esraj, Greg Ellis on percussion, & Hans Christian on cello & sarangi. Special nods go out to Donna De Lory for her signature ethereal vocals on Diamonds in the Sun and Lakshmi, and CC White’s edgy RB vocal styling on All Good and Om Namah Shivaya.

This album was truly a community effort to create with over 200 people donating money, time and energy to the project and Girish did everyone proud. You can really melt into and float around in a sea of musical bliss while listening to “Diamonds in the Sun.” The result is a precious gem that’s destined to be another staple in Sacred World music libraries across the globe.
